Privacy
Gate of the Dead is a game made and operated by Unbeaten Studios Pty Ltd (ACN 703 123 853, ABN 81 703 123 853) ("we", "us"). This page explains what we collect and why. In short: we collect as little as we can to run the game, and we never sell your data.
Your progress
Your camp, upgrades, Scrap Metal and settings are kept in your browser and on our server, under a guest account made for you automatically, so you can carry on if your browser is cleared. You don't need to give us any details to play.
If you choose to save your progress to an email address or to Google, we keep that email address or account ID to sign you in, and nothing else from it. We only email you sign-in links you ask for. You can make a recovery code instead, or delete your progress and account from our server at any time in Settings.
If you appear on a leaderboard, other players see the player name you pick (a made-up name until you choose one), your country and your score.
How the game is used
To see how the game is played, it records simple events such as "a night was started" or "a night was finished", with the kind of night, how long it took and whether you held the gate, against a random ID stored in your browser. If you arrived from one of our ads, we note which ad (from the web address) and whether a click ID was present, but not the ID itself. These events contain nothing that identifies you and are not shared with anyone.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to count visits and to see how people found us and which parts of the game are played. It sets cookies in your browser and receives your browser and device type, your approximate location (worked out from your network address, which it does not keep) and the pages you view. It does not tell us who you are.
The Meta pixel
We use the Meta pixel, from Meta (the company behind Facebook and Instagram), to measure and improve our advertising: whether people who see one of our ads visit, play and come back. It sets a cookie in your browser and receives your browser and device type, your network address, the page you are on and simple events such as a night being started. We do not send Meta your name, email address or any account details.
Your choice
If your device is set to a European or UK time zone, we ask before Google Analytics or the Meta pixel load, and they stay off unless you accept. Both are always off if your browser sends a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal. Anyone can change their choice at any time from Settings in the game.
Who processes data for us
- Supabase: our server, which keeps your progress, account and leaderboard entries.
- Google: sign-in with Google, if you choose it.
- Google Analytics: visit statistics.
- Meta (the Meta pixel): measuring our advertising.
Children
Gate of the Dead is not directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
